Cheoy Lee Yachts earned a reputation in the United States for long-range, true explorer-oriented megayachts, as well as more classically styled motoryachts. To capitalize on this, the builder is formally introducing the Cheoy Lee Explorer and Tradition series.
For clarity, Cheoy Lee Yachts is the luxury-yacht division of Cheoy Lee Shipyards, not to be confused with CL Yachts, a separate brand from the shipyard. CL Yachts’ offerings are decidedly more contemporary in style, too.
The new Explorer and Tradition projects feature hull designs and styling from Overing Yacht Design and interiors by Sylvia Bolton Design. Classed to Lloyds or other society standards, the Explorer yachts have full-displacement steel hulls with bulbous bows, plus commercial-grade equipment. These bluewater cruisers additionally have creature comforts that Americans want, such as beach clubs and skylounges.
Specifically, the Cheoy Lee Explorer yachts include the 107 Explorer, the 126 Explorer, the 130 Explorer (above), and the 132 Explorer. A 107 Explorer is already in build, for delivery toward the end of summer 2022. Highlights include a bridge-deck master suite and a main-deck VIP, among five owner and guest staterooms. Six to eight crew get sizable accommodations as well. The 126 Explorer, meanwhile, adds the captain’s cabin to the main deck, otherwise mirroring the just-mentioned stateroom layout. As for the 130 Explorer, one is in build, too, further seeing delivery next year. Ten thousand gallons (37,854 liters) of fuel should ensure cruising from the Bahamas to the Baltic, as should the draft of about 7 feet (2.1 meters). Finally, the 132 Explorer features an aft-house superstructure design, providing foredeck acreage for tenders and toys. This five-stateroom yacht also has four decks.
Meanwhile, the Cheoy Lee Tradition series focuses on trideck designs. Construction is fiberglass as well. The Tradition 118 (above) is the first in this series. Featuring a skylounge, she further has a country kitchen on the main deck, along with the master suite just forward. Two VIPs join two twins below decks. Anticipate a 21-knot top end with twin Caterpillar engines, making island hopping more fun.
