Since 1992, AB Yachts has focused on waterjet-powered yachts. With a few models to its name, it now has another new offering, the AB 120. Hull number one, for American clients, is in build already. In fact, she’s set for launch before the end of the year. That’s when her owners will christen her with the pretty apt name Beach.
Though the shipyard cannot yet release a profile rendering (above is the AB 100, similar in size), a few facts prove the project carries on the tradition of her smaller and larger sisters. For instance, she has a flying bridge, as well as an open floor plan. Of course, because the shipyard invites clients to personalize layouts and features, the AB 120 has several customized touches. For instance, Beach’s owners and their guests will have a “moon theater” on the flying bridge. At nighttime, a large screen and projector can play movies for everyone to enjoy under the stars. On the main deck, meanwhile, a sizable hot tub will sit aft. It’s part of a multi-purpose and expandable relaxation zone.
In fact, the shipyard considers the zone the most notable feature of the AB 120. Besides the hot tub, it has a large seating area, plus fold-down platforms at the water level. Altogether, 538 square feet (50 square meters) of social space beckons.
Of course, the owners of Beach and their guests will have watertoys to enjoy, too. The AB 120 will include a double-craft, dedicated garage for stowing the primary tender and a handful of more toys.
While we await further details about the AB 120, the shipyard continues signing contracts for its other series builds. Two AB 100 yachts, for example, are heading to European owners later this year and in early 2023. Just as the owner of the AB 100 Superfast, which premiered at last year’s yacht shows, highly customized the standard AB 100, these new clients are taking similar steps. In fact, anticipate seeing an open-roof saloon, and what the shipyard says is a technically advanced watertoy launch and stowage system.
AB Yachts is part of the Next Yacht Group, which further owns Maiora and CBI Navi.
