With the looks of an explorer but the performance of a semi-displacement superyacht, the Canados Oceanic 143 has launched in Italy.
Announced as the new flagship for Canados in 2020 (as the Oceanic 140), the 142’7” (43.45-meter) yacht has her own hull design. Canados terms it Displaning, a combination of “displacement” and “planing.” Briefly, it combines the long-range advantages of a displacement hull with the higher speeds of a planing hull. Sea trials later this month should confirm a maximum 24 knots, and transatlantic ranges between 8 and 10 knots. Several tank tests of models led to the right design, which includes an integral keel forward. The yard also chose a Veem gyroscope instead of fin stabilizers due to the higher speeds in mind.
The tests also confirmed the new Caterpillar C32 B series diesels would pair well with the entire design. During sea trials, the team will confirm yet another related aspect. The Canados Oceanic 143 Trideck should cover 6,000 nautical miles at 8 knots on just her outer two diesels (she has three total). This saves fuel as well. Specifically, the shipyard anticipates a consumption of 10.6 gph (40 lph). Naturally, the bulbous bow contributes to this, too.

The house-forward design for the Canados Oceanic 143 Trideck lends her explorer looks, yet offers plentiful superyacht comforts. For instance, it situates the main saloon above the four guest staterooms, all 36 feet (11 meters) forward of the engine room. This lessens sound and vibration transferring. The owner, meanwhile, gets an entirely private deck on the uppermost level, with fore and aft alfresco lounges. The 27-foot (8.22-meter) beam ensures everyone enjoys alfresco areas, too. Guests will appreciate an infinity hot tub, a bar with a cooking area, and dining for 12 on the aft deck. Specifically, the space encompasses 1,130 square feet (105 square meters). A hidden treat is the 754-square-foot (70-square-meter) Turkish bath inside the mast.
Though, the electric cars that can stow in the transom, near the gym, are pretty special, too.
Look for the yacht at the Cannes Yachting Festival and the Monaco Yacht Show in September.
