With her owner looking on, the second Mangusta 165 REV yacht to launch so far entered the water in early June. As part of the largest maxi open series from the Italian shipyard, the megayacht will put her powerful speed, and equally notable fuel savings, to use in the Med in a few short weeks.
The series, of which the first delivery debuted at last year’s Monaco Yacht Show, is the re-imagination of the long-successful Mangusta 165 series. Lobanov Design lends even more sleekness to the styling, simultaneously keeping faithful to Mangusta’s history. Additionally, Lobanov Design collaborated with the shipyard’s technical department to push more interior volume, quite unlike most maxis.
Despite being a maxi, the second Mangusta 165 REV yacht can attest to lower fuel consumption than her predecessors. In fact, according to the shipyard, the superyacht burns 30 percent less than the previous series’ deliveries did. This is partly due to a different hull design, but also advances in the MTU propulsion (coupled with KaMeWa waterjets). For times when the owner wants to enjoy speed, the yacht should cruise comfortably around 30 knots, and top out at 35 knots.
Whether underway or anchored for the day, the owner and guests have spaces arranged around their lifestyle. The most popular places very well could be outside. They’ll enjoy dining primarily on the main aft deck, for example. While swimming off the beach club will be popular as well, they can take a dip in the foredeck pool instead. Sunpads and settees complement it, for a more sociable experience. Overall, it occupies 472 square feet (69 square meters).
Scooting around on PWCs and a nearly 20-foot-long (6-meter-long) waterjet-powered tender are possible, too. The watertoys stow in a side garage, preserving the transom for the beach club. It’s surely one of the most prized changes compared to the former 165 series. Since the garage occupied the full transom, no beach club was aboard.
Rest and relaxation come in guest staterooms below decks and the master suite on the main deck. Though in general, six staterooms are available, the owner of this second Mangusta 165 REV yacht opted for the five-stateroom arrangement. Therefore, a full-beam VIP and three guest staterooms are below decks. A gym with a Turkish bath is down below as well. The owner did, however, keep the two-level configuration for his stateroom. Because of how the series emphasizes interior volume, the suite’s 990 square feet (92 square meters) look and feel much larger.
More models in the Mangusta 165 REV series are in build on spec and under contract.
