When most people hear “UV,” they think of harmful UV rays. In the case of the yacht UV II, however, there should only be positive thoughts. The project just celebrated her official launch and christening at ISA Yachts.
An ISA GT 45 for an Australian owner, the 145-footer (44.3-meter) lowered into the water yesterday, receiving a second christening in a sense due to some rain. Nevertheless, the onlookers were all smiles in anticipation of the superyacht setting off on her maiden voyage this summer.
As part of the ISA GT 45 (a.k.a. Granturismo) series, the sporty yacht, with three decks, features styling by Enrico Gobbi – Team for Design. One of the most notable design elements is a pronounced arch, on both sides, stretching from the aft main deck up to the sundeck. It’s a signature feature for ISA Yachts. This owner opted for the steel and aluminum series construction, too. (All-aluminum construction is also available.)

Inside, meanwhile, the semi-custom yacht UV II has design by Luca Dini’s studio. Suitably for a superyacht, turquoise and sand are some of the predominant colors, as is gold. The combination should really heighten the sense of being amid the great outdoors, especially when the large windows on different decks are open. It particularly should be noticeable in the main-deck master suite, which has a balcony. The suite also has exclusive access to the forward alfresco lounge, via stairs.
Other highlights of the project include four guest staterooms below decks, two of which have twins that can convert to doubles. A 16-foot (5-meter) tender, stowing in a starboard-side garage, is available for guests as well.
Sea trials should be underway soon. They should confirm a top speed of 16 knots. They further should confirm a cruising speed of 14½ knots.

Even though the owner is from Australia, the yacht UV II isn’t heading Down Under just yet. If you’ll be attending the Cannes Yachting Festival or the Monaco Yacht Show this fall, you can book an appointment to tour her. She’ll make her global boat-show debuts there.
