The all-fiberglass Silver Wind slipped into the water at ISA Yachts on June 13. The 143-foot (43.63-meter) megayacht is part of the ISA 140 series, the yard’s largest semi-custom offering. Silver Wind is also outfitted with a hybrid propulsion system.
That system was developed with Siemens. Siemens is a leader in hybrid power for trains, buses, and marine applications. Hybrid propulsion is rightfully touted for its operational flexibility, better fuel consumption, and lower sound levels (the latter in electric mode). Silver Wind has twin MTU 16V4000 M93L diesels, plus two electric motors, all coupled with the same pair of KaMeWa waterjets. ISA Yachts says that Silver Wind can achieve 8 knots on electric power alone. Under those conditions, the megayacht reportedly consumes just 23.8 gph (90 lph). This, in turn, permits a reported range of 2,600 nautical miles. Put another way, it’s 2.9 gallons per nautical mile (11 liters per nautical mile). For comparison, with her diesels running, Silver Wind reportedly burns 14.5 gallons per nautical mile (55 liters per nautical mile) at her 32-knot top speed. As for sound levels, ISA Yachts has not released specific figures. It simply says that Silver Wind in electric mode is akin to a sailing yacht.
Regardless of operational mode, Silver Wind has accommodations for 10 guests. Nuvolari-Lenard is handling interior design for the three-deck project. Details haven’t been divulged outside of the total of five staterooms or 27’3” (8.3-meter) beam. But, that beam should make indoor and alfresco areas enjoyable. As to the latter, Silver Wind has a sundeck and beach club. Twin staircases sweep down the decks aft, too.
Silver Wind is set for completion in July. The MCA-compliant megayacht is also for sale for €21 million (about $28.5 million) via the central agency of Worth Avenue Yachts.
