The Oceanco Simply Custom platform is a good solution for several potential customers. It’s a set engineering foundation, from hull design to mechanical systems, upon which more than a dozen superyacht designers have created conversation starters. All start at 262 feet (80 meters) and can exceed a volume of 2,500 gross tons. This therefore provides clients with the ability to focus on what they like the most, the interior and on-deck design and amenities. Additionally, and importantly, it saves construction time. These are the latest Simply Custom superyacht designs, along with what makes each stand out.
Ani, by Vallicelli Design
Don’t let the seemingly slender exterior shapes (top of page) fool you. The Vallicelli studio has given Ani abundant interior spaces within her 262 feet (80 meters) of length. Interestingly, the team tapped its experience in not just naval architecture, but also sailing-yacht design for the svelte appearance. Lots of soft lines and curves characterize the profile as well, “resulting in a stylistic ‘sweetness’ and femininity,” the studio says. Note, too, how the sheerline starting at the bow transforms into a concave shape halfway aft. It continues to slope downward as it arrives at the transom. Finally, although the interior is for owners’ customization, the studio suggests a dazzling, ultra-luxe look (above).
Proteus, by The A Group
In Greek mythology, Proteus is a sea god who possesses the ability to change shapes: a snake, for example, a lion, and more. Similarly, The A Group says that its Simply Custom superyacht design, Proteus, can change according to your tastes. Not just change on paper, however. The overall look and feel throughout the decks can alter over time, while the superstructure styling itself remains timeless. In fact, the studio asserts, the latter is possible because nothing is superfluous. Furthermore, The A Group will adapt the hull design to each client’s desires, given its background in naval architecture. “The client is in the driving seat, creating a yacht design that is theirs and theirs alone,” the design team says.
Reverie, by Winch Design
Since Winch Design has its headquarters on the River Thames in England, naturally the designers see lots of riverboats. Specifically, they see slipper launches, which are classic, often wooden Thames pleasureboats for four to eight passengers. These, along with the natural shapes of the water’s edge, inspired the Simply Custom design for Reverie. “Simple references form lasting impressions and strong, pure concepts; this is the Winch approach,” explains Jim Dixon, head of yacht design for the studio. As for the name, Dixon says the team liked the concept of a yacht allowing the owners and guests to get lost in happy thoughts and daydreams.
Silver Ocean, by Team for Design
Automotive design has long been an inspiration for Enrico Gobbi and the rest of the staff at Team for Design. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that the Silver Ocean Simply Custom superyacht design features car cues, along with aviation cues. “It appears to be in motion, even when still,” Gobbi says. Not only that, but “the profile features three character lines that emerged from our first concept sketches and which became ‘slits’ of light that characterize Silver Ocean at anchor.” Complementing these long lines, external deck areas are wide and clutter-free, for a sense of free-flowing access. Even interior areas emphasize this feeling, like a “fluid” stairway leading from the owners’ suite to the bow helipad.
