The owner of the yacht Super Mario might have felt like Superman or some other superhero on launch day. He and his family finally got to see the project they had spent many months planning floating on her lines. It may have been tempting to cast off her lines and start cruising in the surrounding waters of Italy. But, they are patiently waiting until delivery day.
The yacht Super Mario splashed in Ancona, Italy, at Extra Yachts. In fact, she’s the fourth hull in the X96 Triplex series. The series premiered in 2021, to provide cruising customers with extra volume. Therefore, the nearly 94-footer (29-meter) comes in at 238 gross tons. A wide beam of 25 feet (7.6 meters) adds to the roomy feel, too. These further come in with engineering from Extra Yachts’ parent company, Palumbo Superyachts, along with naval architect Francesco Guida.
Since she’s part of a semi-custom series, the yacht Super Mario does have some especially personalized touches. For instance, the owner requested an additional guest stateroom. For that reason, one sits on the upper deck, complementing the typical four guest cabins below decks. (Two twins and two VIPs are down below on this project.) Additionally, the owner and his family wanted the galley on the main deck, rather than below by the crew’s quarters. Finally, the yacht has four decks, one entire extra level.
Openable, floor-to-ceiling windows on the main and upper decks will make days at anchor more enjoyable. They effectively will make the walls between the interior and the outdoor environment seem to disappear. Interestingly, the family wanted the look and feel of the yacht to interplay strongly with whatever ocean or bay the megayacht cruised.
In collaboration with Hot Lab, the yacht Super Mario has an elegant serenity throughout her four decks. Natural oak soles pair with white and grey overhead—specifically white lacquered panels and grey fabric ones. Some of the furniture, meanwhile, is beige wood with glossy black lacquer accents. A few pieces, including coffee tables, have white calacatta marble tops, too. Lastly, grey leather covers columns. These tones and textures flow from the saloon through the main-deck master and throughout the lounges.
Sea trials should confirm a top speed of 17½ knots and a cruising speed of 12 knots.
