NL 50 Plus Yacht Progress Takes Major Turn—Literally—at Mengi Yay Yachts

Mengi Yay Yachts in Turkey didn’t waste much time getting work going in this new year. The craftspeople flipped the steel hull of the Mengi Yay NB 114 project, a.k.a. the NJ 50 Plus yacht.

The NL 50 Plus yacht is part of the NL Plus series, originally the Nuvolari Lenard Plus series, from the shipyard and the famed design studio. The two had previously joined forces for the highly customized yacht Serenissima I, which among other things has a boxing ring aboard. The new 172-foot (52-meter) series features styling and interior design by Nuvolari Lenard and taps into some of the most-popular creature comforts that global buyers want. For instance, the main aft deck cascades down terrace-like steps to the swim platform. It additionally has fold-down bulwarks and a glass-rimmed pool, along with sunbeds and intimate conversation corners. Shaded alfresco dining is possible one deck up, while the uppermost deck has a combination of open-air sunning and soaking. It further offers the possibility of sliding-glass doors to protect yet another dining and seating space beneath the hardtop.

Of course, deck areas are for owners to arrange as they see fit. So, too, is the interior. The NL 50 Plus yacht in build will have a total of five staterooms, including the master suite. Naturally, the master occupies the nearly 30-foot (9-meter) beam forward on the main deck. Family and friends can enjoy using a gym and even a beauty/wellness salon. Traditional interior areas like an open-plan saloon and formal dining area—serviced by a spacious, main-deck galley—and a skylounge are in the plans, too.

The yacht should be ready for delivery in the summer of 2026. Although Mengi Yay Yachts hasn’t released full anticipated performance figures, it does say she’ll have transatlantic range.
