VisionF Yachts has delivered several superyacht catamarans so far, but none like this. The VisionF E-Cat 80 yacht is its first entirely electric project.
Splashing in early February, the 79-footer (24-meter) is an evolution of the VisionF 80 yacht series, which debuted several years ago. Notably, that prior series fell in line with VisionF’s emphasis on catamarans with additional fuel efficiency, relying on the Volvo Penta IPS system. This system has earned renown for having lower emissions, too. The Vision F E-Cat 80 yacht series is the shipyard’s first effort toward cleaner cruising.

To that end, VisionF Yachts and the naval architect Amedeo Migali of MICAD developed the carbon-fiber yacht to rely on electric motors. Specifically, twin Danfoss motors reportedly provide 180 kW of continuous power. Their maximum output, meanwhile, is 340 kW. The shipyard expects a top speed of 16 knots, and reliable ongoing power thanks to solar panels feeding two batteries. Fifty-four panels cover the megayacht’s hardtop, in fact, and should produce up to 21.6 kW of energy per hour. As an emergency backup, or for extra electrical supply on runs nearing her 16-knot max, the catamaran further has two 150-kW gensets.
With styling by Marco Casali – Too Design, the semi-custom VisionF E-Cat 80 yacht series bears interiors created with the Turkish yard’s in-house team. Thanks to the nearly 36-foot (11-meter) beam, an open-plan main deck looks and feels far more capacious than a monohull’s arrangement. Although VisionF hasn’t disclosed what the owner of hull number one chose, it’s possible to have the helm as part of this open arrangement. That especially may appeal to those who enjoy chatting with the captain while the yacht is underway.

Overall, the series offers accommodations for up to 12, including the owners. Crew’s quarters for four people, along with a crew mess, are in the hulls, too. Finally, a tender garage spans the hulls aft, with room for PWCs, dive gear, and other options.
VisionF Yachts plans to hand over the yacht to her owner within the next several weeks. It’s also planning to start construction on additional hulls soon.
