Five years after seeing a sleekly styled superyacht launch at Feadship, an owner has just celebrated the launch of a larger project. While both also bear the same name, the newest yacht Moonrise does have several differences.
The first Moonrise was a 2020 launch and came in at about 328 feet (99.95 meters). At that time, she was the biggest yacht from Feadship in terms of waterline length. Simultaneously, she was the largest megayacht by waterline from any yacht builder in The Netherlands. The owner’s new project, measuring 331 feet (101 meters) overall, doesn’t hold either of those distinctions. However, she still makes history for the shipyard for something she lacks. Specifically, the yacht Moonrise doesn’t have the all-too-familiar satellite and communications domes on her mast. Her predecessor (below) carried five domes. The lack of the “Mickey Mouse ears,” the nickname many in the industry have given these domes over the years, cleans up the yacht’s profile. The De Voogt design studio at Feadship integrated her satellite receivers into her superstructure.

Some further differences between the first Moonrise and this one include a higher mast and a longer swim platform. The sundeck is bigger now, too, containing a hair saloon, a gym, and a massage area. Yet other changes: The new launch has an owner’s deck plus a bridge-deck cinema.
In profile, the two yachts resemble one another, in keeping with the owner’s preference. The owner turned to Rémi Tessier for interior design again as well. Though specifics on the décor remain under wraps, Feadship does say that the onboard experience should be quieter, due to more sound attenuation. In fact, the De Voogt team paid attention to underwater sound from things like propellers. It also strove to isolate sound transfer from the anchor winch and the movement of the anchor chain.

Sea trials and final outfitting will take place in the coming weeks.
