From its origins in the 1970s to its annual Oyster World Rally, Oyster Yachts has remained focused on far-flung cruising. The British builder wants more sailing enthusiasts to enjoy the adventures with an entry-level superyacht model, the Oyster 805 yacht series. Not only that, but also enjoy the flexibility traditionally only much larger yachts offer.

With an LOA of 83 feet (25.28 meters), this project handily can take up to six people on voyages the length of a U.S. coast or across an ocean. Simultaneously, you can choose a shoal keel so that you can pull into anchorages off-limits to larger yachts, or stick with the standard keel. Draft with the former is just shy of nine feet (nearly three meters), while it’s 11 feet (3.4 meters) with the standard keel. Either way, she’s small enough for owner-operators to handle, yet large enough for two crewmembers to manage if you prefer pros at the helm.

Pleasantly surprising, the customization possibilities are far broader than you’re apt to find in this size range. For starters, the Oyster 805 yacht offers a fourth stateroom. That same space can be a gym instead, or even an office or a cozy lounge/library. Speaking of cozy, yet another option allows you to add a bar in the saloon, serving up daytime smoothies and late-afternoon sundowners. No need to go to the galley to mix them up. Finally, outside, the foredeck tender well can double as a hang-out area.

With an air draft of nearly 122 feet (37 meters), the Oyster 805 yacht results from the builder’s longstanding relationship with Humphreys Yacht Design. Oyster aficionados will appreciate the sleek profile, while all sailing enthusiasts will appreciate the three sets of windows. (Styling-wise, these three sets distinguish the Oyster 805 from her smaller and larger sisters, including the Oyster 885SII.) Out on deck, the build and design team integrate a daybed into the center cockpit. Furthermore, a fixed—and optional—bimini can cover the cockpit. In fact, Oyster Yachts calls it the Starlight Bimini, since embedded ambient lighting enhances dinners under the stars.

Since bluewater cruising is about enjoying the sights as much as the sailing, the Oyster 805 yacht additionally has some great viewpoints. In fact, the shipyard calls one special area in the saloon The View. Specifically, it’s a daybed, placed perfectly by the large windows. Meanwhile, Wing Seats tucked into the cockpit coamings are ideal for watching helm action or spotting dolphins.

Of course, you’re supposed to have fun once you arrive at a destination. To that end, the Oyster 805 yacht series has a standard swim platform with access from both port and starboard. You can stow an extra tender on the platform, too.

Oyster Yachts doesn’t plan to start construction on spec. Instead, upon contract, delivery can take place within 26 months. This means hull number one could be ready in 2027.
