The largest model so far in the Swan Maxi Line slipped into the water on May 14 in Finland. The Swan 128 yacht Be Cool will head to the Med before long for summer cruising and racing.
The first illustrations of this 128-footer (39-meter) from last year revealed a super-sleek, sporty, and nimble profile. In real life, she remains the same, even with a semi-raised saloon. Her strong bow allows proper separation between the headstay and the code zero without a bowsprit, enhancing performance and sail handling.

Sea trials should confirm she’s a terrific performer, too. According to Nautor Swan, the Swan 128 yacht suits long ocean passages and regattas equally. For instance, the shipyard anticipates a moderate heel angle—around 20° in optimal conditions. This means no one needs to execute awkward maneuvers or athletic moves to get around underway. Additionally, the sailplan means she should stand up to some challenging conditions without making the helsman’s job difficult. Similarly, the sailplan should deliver great cruising in lighter winds. Overall, peak speeds should handily exceed 17 knots.
In keeping with the name of this first Swan 128 yacht, Be Cool will keep guests cool and comfortable. Her forward cockpit is completely for them, conveniently with a sprayhood and a bimini. Settees and a table cater to lunches, cocktails, or just enjoying each other’s company. The forward cockpit also provides some separation from navigation and related operations, all in the center cockpit.
Once anchored, the owners and guests aboard Be Cool can take full advantage of the beach area, the entire stern. Leaping into the sea for a swim, for example, and launching and taking a spin on the tender are all possible. (Interested buyers of future Swan 128 yachts should note that the shipyard can incorporate a double-action swim platform. It provides even more space for pursuing watersports and kicking back.)
For interior areas, the owners liked the warmth and inviting look of oak for the elevated saloon and staterooms. The Swan 128 yacht has three levels of natural light in the elevated saloon, too, making it even more inviting. This further means the owners and guests aboard Be Cool can take in the scenery whether they’re walking through the saloon or enjoying a meal in the dining area. And, as nice as the guest cabins are, the master suite is exceptionally large.

“We consider the new Swan 128 the ultimate expression of our evolution,” Giovanni Pomati, CEO of Nautor Swan, says. “She combines the purity of our design lines with comfortable interiors and a wide use of advanced technologies. We are truly proud and see this yacht as a benchmark in the world of maxi sailing.”
The owner intends to keep the yacht in Porto Cervo. Look for Be Cool to make her global boat-show debut at the Monaco Yacht Show in September.
