France, Croatia, and Greece are some of the destinations the yacht Alfa is cruising this summer. Not only can you step aboard, but you’ll be among the first to see a just-finished major redesign. You’ll also experience the benefits of technical upgrades, too, since the yacht Alfa is for charter once again.
The owners of this 230-footer (70-meter), a Benetti, previously offered her for charter. However, this past winter, they took her out of service for her five-year survey. Simultaneously, they wanted to change several areas of the interior. They and their representatives from Ocean Independence ultimately chose Lusben, the Azimut-Benetti Group’s refit yard. “Supporting a Benetti throughout its entire journey—from launch to refit—is a true expression of the synergy within our Group,” notes Gianni Paladino, Lusben’s commercial director.
Standing five decks tall, Alfa had some pretty extensive servicing and spiffing up. The five-year survey alone saw inspections and servicing of the stabilizers, engines and related gear, generators, and more. Improving boarding and disembarking when the yacht Alfa is for charter, or when they’re onboard, was also important to the owners. The Lusben team took apart and rebuilt the side ladder, swim ladder, and aft passerelle. Similarly, to enhance stepping on or off the tender from the swim platform—and the crew’s handling of it—the shipyard installed retractable bollards. Topping off the exterior modifications, new lighting went onboard, including as part of the backlit nameplate. Lusben gave the yacht Alfa a new coat of paint, too.
Although images aren’t available, the interiors and some alfresco social spaces underwent significant changes, too. The owners chose Mark Berryman Design to take things up a notch, simultaneously maintaining an air of understated elegance. That has long been one of the yacht’s calling cards. If you’re a fan of open-air dining, a teppanyaki grill is now on the skydeck. The design studio incorporated it into a curved serving bar as well. Three further custom-designed bars are onboard. Wine connoisseurs among you surely will want to ask the crew to show you the eye-catching wine cellar. It’s in a foyer near the galley, so it’s a work area, but you might be dazzled by the selections.
Some of the relaxation spaces are additionally all-new. If you’re staying in the master suite, the headboard and cabinetry are new designs, as is the door. Try your hand at a game of chess in the integrated chessboards in custom-designed ottomans on the main deck. Finally, after a fantastic day of fun in the water and fine food, gather around the fire pit. It’s within a marble-clad table.
The yacht Alfa is for charter in Ocean Independence’s central agency at a weekly rate starting at €700,000.
