After conversations with six potential shipyards, an American owner is in seventh heaven. This owner has bought the seventh Martinique model from Moonen Yachts, the hull number known as the Moonen Martinique YN205 yacht project.
According to Matthew Stone, managing partner of IYC’s California office, “we interviewed six different yards, which were then shortlisted to three.” Moonen was among them, for its reputation constructing long-range, reliable, and comfortable yachts. Ultimately, “Moonen stood above the rest for this client,” Stone says. “The flexibility of the shipyard was what truly got this deal across the finish line.”
Construction began on the yacht project in 2023, on spec, with completion anticipated for this spring. In fact, Stone continues, the Moonen Martinique YN205 yacht was just four weeks from completion. However, the owner wants to make some modifications, including adding a sundeck hot tub. Therefore, the megayacht is remaining at the Dutch yard a little while longer. Once work finishes on the nearly 123-footer (37.4-meter), the owner intends to keep the yacht on the East Coast.

Since she’s part of a series, YN205 (her name is confidential for now) follows in the footsteps of six previous deliveries. Volume is a healthy 345 gross tons, for instance. Owners and guests have some equally healthy areas for enjoying each other’s company, like the sundeck. It’s 700 square feet (65 square meters), catering to dining and taking in the views, too. Boarding watertoys (stowed in a garage and a foredeck hold) or jumping into the ocean is easy for a few people simultaneously, thanks to the 215-square-foot (20-square-meter) swim platform. Surprisingly—in a good way—for a steel-hulled yacht, she has a relatively low draft of 7 feet (2.15 meters). This is an especially attractive benefit for American clients who want to cruise the Bahamas.
Speaking of Americans, the sale comes several months after Moonen began targeting the American market, with IYC as its representative. The owners of the shipyard, an Australian cruising couple with business experience in manufacturing, learned that U.S. buyers were a strong fit for its oceangoing, pocket-size superyachts. Specifically where the Moonen Martinique YN205 yacht is concerned, range should be 4,000 nautical miles at 10 knots.
Although the buyer is making some changes, apparently Hollander Yacht Design’s interior layout and décor are remaining. Five staterooms, some with pullmans, can accommodate up to 12 people. These include the master suite, which sits on the main deck.
