If you’ll be attending the Cannes boat show in September, you’ll be among the first to see the newest member of the Ferretti Yachts fleet, the Ferretti 870. Hull number one hit the water yesterday. She replaces the Ferretti 830 and fits nicely between the 800 and 881 models.
Unfortunately the official launch photo doesn’t give you a good idea of what she looks like. Suffice it to say that Ferretti Yachts and Studio Zuccon International Project ensured the megayacht would bear family familiarity. To that end, the Ferretti 870 has large signature hull windows. They’re contained within the master stateroom, making it extra bright. There are also what appear to be long, horizontal windows forward of here, which are actually double windows. This is another design highlight shared by other models, and it designates the VIP stateroom. The Ferretti 870’s overall lines further echo those of the rest of the yachts and megayachts offered by Ferretti.
As the name suggests, the Ferretti 870 measures about 87 feet (26.5 meters). Beam is 19’7” (6 meters), customary for her LOA. Also customary is the combination of a saloon and dining area on the main deck, plus the galley tucked to port just forward of here. All accommodations are below decks. Two guest cabins, one with twins and the other a double, accompany the master and VIP.
Performance-wise, the Ferretti 870 continues Ferretti’s emphasis on swift yachts. Top speed during initial sea trials was reportedly 32 knots. While the project was still in the design stage, the builder anticipated a 30½-knot maximum speed. Twin MTU 12V 2000 M94 provide propulsion. It’s the same power package as the one aboard the Ferretti Altura 840 and other models both within Ferretti Yachts and its sister companies, like Pershing.
The owner of this first Ferretti 870 will take delivery later this month or in early July. It will come after Ferretti Yachts completes sea trials and final checks for compliance with RINA classification.
