For the past few years, the Monaco Yacht Show has featured a dedicated area for exhibitors to showcase environmental-minded products. This year, organizers are highlighting more eco-friendly exhibitors throughout the tents and along the docks, with the Blue Wake program.
Given the adoption of sustainability goals by owners’ teams and the yachting industry, the Monaco Yacht Show launched the Sustainability Hub in 2022. A handful of companies displayed their products that year. Starting in 2023, the show organizers joined forces with the Water Revolution Foundation, a non-profit helping yachting change its environmental-impact image and re-invest in ocean conservation. The non-profit assisted by screening potential Sustainability Hub exhibitors to ensure they were truly forward-thinking.
Similarly, the Water Revolution Foundation is lending its insight into impactful solutions that will qualify for the Blue Wake initiative. “This initiative is about more than visibility—it’s about credibility,” says Robert van Tol, the Water Revolution Foundation’s executive director. “Rigorous vetting,” he adds, will lend confidence that Blue Wake solutions “genuinely contribute to making the yachting industry more sustainable.”
Gaëlle Tallarida, the Monaco Yacht Show’s managing director, points out that sustainability goals have been driving innovation in yachting. “Our role at MYS is to provide a platform where these advancements can gain the recognition they deserve,” she says. “With Blue Wake, we are reinforcing this commitment by ensuring that sustainability is an integral part of the event experience.” In fact, Tallarida continues, special visibility will alert show visitors, whether owners or industry representatives, to particular companies’ credentials. This therefore will open the opportunity to speak to them in depth about their environmental focus, she concludes.
Currently, the Monaco Yacht Show and the Water Revolution Foundation are still reviewing applicants. We’ll update this story accordingly once exhibitors receive approval.
