Michael Verdon, contributor
Having spent his summers on a family boat as a child, it seems fitting that Michael Verdon has spent most of his career writing about yachts and boats. He has been a staff editor at three U.S. boating magazines, and has contributed to yachting magazines in six countries around the world. He is a correspondent for Yachting magazine and contributes frequently to Superyacht Business, Robb Report, and Worth magazines. He recently lived in Ireland and France for four years, where he covered the yachting sector, before returning to the United States.
Frances and Michael Howorth, contributors
When it comes to megayachts, Frances and Michael Howorth have been there, done that, and are now selling the T-shirt! Owner-operators of a successful charter yacht in the Caribbean and along the U.S. eastern seaboard in the 1990s, they turned their attention to larger yachts in 1988. Michael took command, and Frances signed on as pursuer, of a megayacht. Crewing on megayachts from 110 to 300 feet followed, and Michael then became a build captain. Throughout it all, the couple wrote and photographed the many different aspects of the business. They’ve written several books, each about yachting. For the past 15 years, the Howorths have been shore-based and written for most of the leading nautical publications. They also run the Yachting Experts website.
