Meet Yard no. 452, Amels’ second Limited Editions launch. Though the shipyard won’t reveal her name, word has it that she’s been christened La Mirage. She’s also been seen in a few Med ports, most recently Palma de Mallorca, Spain.
Amels, long known for its fully custom megayachts, introduced the semicustom Limited Editions series at the 2005 Monaco Yacht Show. The goal was to provide owners with a quicker turnaround time on a proven engineering platform–saving the yard time and money, too. The first of the series, Deniki, was delivered last summer, built in just 14 months.
While La Mirage and Deniki are each 171 feet LOA and bear Tim Heywood’s styling, they do have differences. Deniki has a dark-blue hull and a fully custom, extravagant interior, as per the owner’s wishes, by Peter Heuvelmans, who also designed the owner’s home. La Mirage bears a more sedate interior design by Laura Sessa Romboli, who, like Heywood, was tapped by Amels to give a signature look to the series. While no photos have been released just yet of La Mirage’s decor, the sketch here, by Romboli, should be representative of the look: light and airy, with woven fabrics and natural tones. In addition, La Mirage boasts a full-beam bridge deck, permitting a larger skylounge and three windows (versus Deniki‘s two) to each side in this room.
Even with these differences, La Mirage and Deniki, as part of the Limited Editions series, have similarities. There’s a main-deck master suite forward, with all guest staterooms below decks: two double suites and a VIP suite that can actually be split into two staterooms. Thirteen crew are accommodated below decks as well.
While the owners of La Mirage are presently enjoying the Med, Amels is building at least four more 171s in the Limited Editions series as well as a 212-foot Limited Editions.
