“Bang on schedule,” in the words of her project manager, this ketch hull was rolled over at Vitters Shipyard a little more than two weeks ago. The 55-meter (180’4”) megayacht is from the drawing boards of Hoek Design and a sistership of sorts to the famous cruiser Adele.
Adele and this yacht, referred to simply as MCM 151 (but to be christened Marie according to Hoek’s Web site), also share the same construction-management team, MCM Newport. In fact, Nigel Ingram, one of the company’s founding partners, made the statement above about the yacht being right on time. He also says that she “exhibits a high level of metalwork skills,” marking “the first hull that Vitters has built in-house for some years.”
According to Hoek Design, this ketch will have a hull (made of Alustar), keel, rudder, and sail plan identical to those on Adele. However, she’ll have a different deck layout and, of course, interior design (also by Hoek), including anigre paneling used throughout.
Of course, there’s plenty more work to be done before delivery next year. The next steps include the addition of the two deckhouses and moving the hull into Vitters’ finishing hall, which should occur on May 1.
