The newest member of the Benetti Class range of semicustom yachts hit the water outside of Benetti’s Lusben yard on December 1. The Crystal 140 launched under the watchful eyes of her owners, a ceremony made a bit more special thanks to a blessing by a Catholic priest.
The all-fiberglass Crystal 140 is among the largest Benetti Class offerings, filling the gap between the Classic Supreme 132 and the Vision 145. (On a related side note, the smallest in the Benetti Class range is the Delfino 93, and the largest is the Vision Supreme 164.) Stefano Righini graced her with large windows along both sides, to encourage the owners and guests to take in the views. Inside, François Zuretti collaborated with the owners and their own designer to bring Caribbean flair to the various rooms, from the main deck owner’s suite (complete with office) to the dining area aft on the bridge deck. Seeing as the owners are from the islands, it seems a natural decor choice.
Other notable feature aboard are four guest staterooms, a sundeck with teak decking and plenty of relaxation space, and a captain’s cabin just aft of the wheelhouse. A total of seven crewmembers and 10 in the owner’s party can be accommodated. Twin Caterpillar C32 ACERTs should permit a 15-knot top end.
The Crystal 140 is being finished at Benetti’s Viareggio facility. Delivery is set for early next year, after which the yacht is expected to spend some time in the Med and then head over to North American waters.
