It’s only fitting that a German shipyard built and handed over a German-named megayacht.
That’s what happened just a few days ago when Abeking & Rasmussen delivered the 60-meter (197-foot) Kaiser. Previously known by her hull number, 6482, Kaiser had been undergoing final fit-out and sea trials since last November.
If you’re familiar with previous Abeking & Rasmussen deliveries, you may note a resemblance to Elandess, delivered in 2009. Both projects were styled by Donald Starkey Designs, with dark hulls. Naval architecture services were performed in-house.
While many details have been kept confidential, Kaiser is expected to reach a 16-knot top speed and 14-knot cruise thanks to Caterpillar engines. At the latter speed, she’ll reportedly achieve a range of 4,000 nautical miles. Kaiser further meets Lloyds classification requirements. Since the superyacht is a sistership of sorts to Elandess, she likely has five staterooms, including the master suite, plus accommodations for 14 crewmembers. Interior design is by Bannenberg & Rowell, also just like aboard Elandess.
