In a matter of days, the megayacht Mary Jean will embark upon an ambitious itinerary: a two-year world cruise, with charter opportunities along the way.
Built in 1981 at Campanella and wrapping up a refit in Palma this month, Mary Jean measures 48.82 meters (160 feet). Upon departure, she’ll head to the Caribbean and remain there through May. Next is the Galapagos Islands, via passage through the Panama Canal. Along the way, Mary Jean may visit the San Blas Islands (still to be determined). Regardless, the summer will see her head to the Pacific, with stops in the Marquesas, Society Islands, Cook Islands, and Fiji. September and October will be spent exploring New Zealand, then it’s off to Australia for the end of the year.
Next year’s itinerary is equally enticing. Mary Jean will cruise (and no doubt offer diving) along the Great Barrier Reef in February. She’ll remain in Australia for a few months, spending additional time in the Kimberley area. Part of Western Australia, Kimberley has barrier reefs and a varied coastline, with steep cliffs to the north and flat lands to the south. The Maldives will be up next, along with the Seychelles. Those areas will be Mary Jean’s focus through the end of 2012 and into the beginning of 2013.
Mary Jean accommodates 12 guests in a master suite, a VIP, three double staterooms, and a twin cabin. The crew-to-guest ratio is 1:1, making for excellent personalized attention. Also excellent is her array of watertoys. They include two three-person PWCs, snorkeling and dive gear, wakeboards, waterskis, and a towable banana boat. Seems like the hardest decision guests will have will be deciding which one to use….
