Cerri Cantiere Navali, an Italian shipyard established nearly 16 years ago, signed hull number three of its 102 FlyingSport megayacht series in time to wrap up 2012.
To put Cerri’s history into perspective, the Carrara-based builder launched its first megayacht project, the Cerri 86, in 2002. The 102, pictured, is its second and largest megayacht series. The 102FlyingSport debuted last year at the Cannes Boat Show, and hull number two debuted at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.
As the name suggests, the Cerri 102 FlyingSport is an athletic-looking series, with a flying bridge. She has the styling and speed advantages of an open. Twin 2,600-hp MTUs coupled to ZF Searex surface drives permit a reported 30-knot cruise and 38-knot top end.
The owner of the newest Cerri 102 FlyingSport, a Russian, will benefit from some interesting departures from the layouts of hulls one and two. They also mark departures from the typical open’s layout. Rather than have an interior helm as well as one on the flying bridge, his megayacht will only have an outside station. The space inside on the main deck will be part of a two-level owner’s suite, topped by a glass sunroof. The lower level of the suite should include good use of glass, too, surrounded by the material for a more open ambiance. Another highlight of the spa: a Turkish bath.
Another difference compared to the two previous 102 FlyingSports: two VIP staterooms aft of the spa. The 102 that debuted at Fort Lauderdale, for example, had three guest staterooms. And, in yet another departure, also from pretty much any megayacht in her size range, the Cerri 102’s master suite will further include a children’s room, next to the spa. The owner seems to have a small child, as a changing area will be inside. A nanny or other staff member can sleep there, too.
Open-air enjoyment remains the emphasis of the flying bridge, of course. Sunning, dining, and soaking areas, the latter thanks to a hot tub aft, are all up here. The owner requested a hardtop for welcome shade when wanted, and side partitions will close on demand if the sun or wind becomes too much. The center of the hardtop will also slide open. A crew of four will see to the owner’s and family’s needs.
Cerri is represented exclusively by the Rodriguez Group worldwide.
