On the heels of a managerial change that will bring custom megayachts to its sheds, Cerri is about to start construction on the fifth hull of the Cerri 102 FlyingSport series (above).
Italy-based Cerri, which was acquired by the industrial company Gavio Group in 2011, now has know-how brought over from its sister shipyard, Baglietto. (Gavio Group acquired Baglietto in 2012.) Diego Michele Deprati (second from left below), who previously served as CEO of Baglietto and Mondo Marine before that, is now Cerri’s CEO. Giulio Bertani (first at left), Baglietto’s sales manager, as well as Adone Pucci (second from right), Baglietto’s shipyard director, are assuming similar roles within Cerri. Baglietto’s technical director, Guido Penco (far right), further takes on the same role at Cerri. Carlo Cerri (center), a businessman with a passion for yachts who established the eponymous shipyard in 1997, remains as chairman.
While Cerri will continue building the swift fiberglass yachts it’s become known for, it’s restyling the two megayacht models. These are the 86 FlyingSport and 102 FlyingSport. Drawings are not yet available. However, Cerri says they’ll each be a bit more modern. The 86 FlyingSport was introduced in 2002, followed by the 102 FlyingSport in 2011.
The 102 FlyingSport just signed might be the first to showcase the new lines. She’s hull number five in the series. Top end is reportedly 37 knots, and cruise is said to be 32 knots. An Italian owner will take delivery.
Cerri is also developing fully custom offerings—and in steel and aluminum. To stimulate interest, the yard is finalizing proposals for a variety of LOAs and styles. A variety of traditional megayachts measuring 79 to 115 feet (24 to 35 meters) will be available, as will expedition-styled yachts. The latter will span 98 to 115 feet LOA (30 to 35 meters). These are all sizes that Baglietto has addressed over the years. Again, drawings are not yet available, though Diego Michele Deprati says, “We are entering agreements with leading designers.”
International Yacht Collection remains the exclusive Cerri sales agent throughout the Americas.
