UPDATE, MAY 20, 2013: International Yacht Network, a longtime partner of Mirage Tender, has acquired full control of the company and is renaming it Evolution Tenders. All RIBs and tenders will be branded as Evolution Tenders for now on, with the former Mirage product line known as the M series. In addition, Nautical Ventures of Fort Lauderdale is the exclusive U.S. sales representative for the jet-tender offerings.
Hull number one of the Mirage 11 XP, a new collared tender from Mirage Tender, came out of the mold this week. The Florida-based company created the boat as an alternative to the typical inflatable models that have dominated the marketplace.
At 10 feet LOA and with a beam of 5’6”, the Mirage 11 XP was designed for tender garages where space is at a particular premium, though obviously it can also be stowed on deck. Mirage Tender says it occupies the same footprint as a RIB but actually offers more space for people and gear, due to the lack of tubes. Five adults can be seated, with room for PFDs, accessories for shore excursions, and more. In addition, the closed-cell-foam collar reportedly doesn’t require upkeep other than normal washdowns and offers the same fender-like protection for a megayacht when tied up alongside.
The Mirage 11 XP can be customized with biminis, hull and/or collar colors, upholstery choices, nav instruments, and entertainment options. As for power, a 110-hp Yamaha four-stroke outboard is standard, coupled to a jet drive. Also standard is Yamaha’s vessel security system, letting you limit engine power, even disable the ignition all together, via remote control to thwart a thief. Mirage Tender eventually plans to offer a 110-hp diesel powerplant, too, plus add other size options to 24 feet LOA.
The Mirage 11 XP will be exhibited at next month’s Miami International Boat Show, alongside other tender options at Mirage Tender’s display.
