Today is the first day of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, being held for the 54th consecutive year. If the photo above, taken during last year’s show, gives you the impression it’s a huge event, it is. FLIBS, as many of the people in the yachting industry call it, is the world’s largest in-water show, and arguably one of the largest boat shows period, encompassing six locations and more than 3 million square feet (278,709 square meters). Dozens of brokerage and new-build megayachts are on display (see our article from earlier this week for the megayachts making their debuts), and hundreds of the top shipyards, designers, and related suppliers are on hand as well.
Of course, we’re on the docks and visiting with exhibitors throughout the weekend. We’ll have updates and images on our Facebook, and Google+ pages, in addition to our Twitter page. If you use Twitter, we’re using the hashtag FLIBS; in fact, a good number of other attendees are doing the same, which is why we have embedded that hashtag feed below. Check back here, or click through to Twitter, to follow and join the conversations.
