Benetti Oasis 36M Yacht Adds Space, Improves At-Anchor Autonomy

More outdoor space, longer stays at anchor, and quieter onboard operations are central to the new Benetti Oasis 36M yacht. The 117-footer (35.6-meter) is the latest evolution of the Italian builder’s Oasis series, with direct customer requests shaping her size and style.

The Oasis range of yachts gets its name from the Oasis Deck, a multi-level outdoor lounge with a pool aft. Resulting from collaboration with RWD, the feature initially was an option for certain customers. However, the lifestyle-enhancing appeal was so strong that the shipyard decided to create a dedicated semi-custom series about five years ago. According to Benetti, feedback directly influenced the new yacht. “With dozens of vessels currently at sea, we enjoyed a unique vantage point from which to observe and learn how owners and their crews truly live the onboard experience,” says Sebastiano Vida, Benetti’s head of product.

Among the most visible features are more ample alfresco spaces. The sundeck, upper deck, and signature Oasis Deck are all larger than expected because owners and guests prefer spending extended periods at anchor. The Oasis Deck, for example, is about 883 square feet (82 square meters). A cover can slide over the pool as well, for extra usable deck space. From the transom to the saloon entry, there’s almost 33 feet (10 meters) as well. Up on the sundeck, owners have 43 feet (13 meters) to arrange as they so wish, for dining, sunning, and/or horizon gazing.

Inside, meanwhile, good space utilization awaits. Bonetti/Kozerski Architecture, which like RWD is responsible for the full Oasis series, has one especially strong recommendation for maximizing the feeling of being immersed in an anchorage. It includes placing a big settee facing aft just inside the saloon doors. Additionally, the master suite occupies the full beam, which is 25’7” (7.8 meters). And, buyers can turn the skylounge into a sunset cocktails lounge, complete with a bar. From deck to deck, easier movement from one area to another is a priority. So, too, is better crew-only access.

In looking at how owners are actually using their yachts, Benetti further decided staying at anchor longer means technical modifications were wise. Therefore, the Benetti Oasis 36M yacht has higher-capacity black- and grey-water tankage. Specifically, each is about 1,321 gallons (5,000 liters). Yet another modification, it developed a new bulbous bow for the hull to increase efficiency. Benetti claims upwards of 10 percent less resistance at the 10-knot cruising speed, affording a 2,500-nautical-mile range. At that same speed, it further says, fuel consumption is less than 7.9 gph (30 lph). Due to these better figures, Benetti reduced fuel capacity as well.

To enhance enjoying long periods in bays, the Benetti Oasis 36M yacht also relies upon electric actuators versus hydraulic systems for garage doors, lifting mechanisms, and the Oasis Deck’s fold-down sides. Electric operations are quieter, plus require less maintenance and avoid potential leaks.

Finally, while traditional diesel propulsion is standard, a Siemens Siship EcoProp hybrid system is available. The shipyard also incorporates SCR to reduce emissions. And, for peace of mind, it has a new D.gree monitoring system. In brief, it monitors the physical hull and its fluid dynamics in real time, to identify anomalies early. This should provide a better window into regular needed maintenance as well.

The Oasis 36M is the second new model in the Oasis range to be revealed in about a year. Last September, Benetti unveiled the Oasis 45M, which is currently under construction for a customer. At 139’5” (42.5 meters) LOA, she, too, has accommodations for 10, including an upper-deck master suite, and a hybrid propulsion system.
