Hargrave Custom Yachts has built a few 101 Raised Pilothouse motoryachts before. But none have looked like this, either inside or out. Neither have previous Hargrave 101 Raised Pilothouse yachts incorporated the technology that she does. Hargrave is planning her premiere at the Yacht & Brokerage Show in Miami in February.
So what makes her different? The exterior styling is certainly the first thing you’ll notice. It’s from Black Designs, sportier and even curvier than previous Hargrave 101 Raised Pilothouse profiles. You could even say it’s more youthful. That would be fine with Hargrave. The Hargrave 101 Raised Pilothouse was built on spec to attract the generation of yacht buyers stepping up to this size. Many of them have owed sport boats, which have a good deal of flair, so they want similar styling. “I think when people see this at the show, they will be surprised and get a better idea of what the word custom means at Hargrave,” adds Mike DiCondina, Hargrave’s president.
Further differentiating the new Hargrave 101 Raised Pilothouse, the design for both the interior and the hull has changed. Hargrave isn’t divulging full details just yet. For now, it’s saying the decor, from Yacht Interiors by Shelley, complements the fresher styling. As for the hull, the goal was to boost handling and efficiency for the new Caterpillar diesels made for this size range. Hargrave has designed and built its yachts and megayachts around Caterpillar engines since it was founded.
In addition, the new Hargrave 101 Raised Pilothouse will incorporate the OctoPlex power management and monitoring system. OctoPlex has built-in redundancies to avoid single-point failures. It also uses plug-and-play technology to work with a variety of onboard systems, like GPS and tank level monitors. Furthermore, it saves wiring-related weight and lets electrical panels be mounted where it’s convenient. Hargrave first installed OctoPlex aboard Sandrine, a 118-footer, a few years ago. The megayacht debuting at the Yacht & Brokerage Show has an updated version.
