Jet-Lev Flyer, the famed flying-watercraft company, has a new model, the Jet-Lev Flyer Shark. It’s a lighter-weight and smaller watercraft than previous offerings. The Jet-Lev Flyer Shark is also less expensive than those models.
The Jet-Lev Flyer Shark solves a stowage problem that some yachts and megayachts face. For example, the original JF-220 in-water unit (a.k.a. “boat unit”) measures 11’5” by 4’0” (3.5 meters by 1.23 meters). Dry weight is 716.5 pounds (325 kilograms). These figures pose a challenge for small tender garages that are already pretty well occupied by other watertoys. For comparison, the Jet-Lev Flyer Shark boat unit (pictured above) measures 9’8” by 3’9” (2.99 meters by 1.18 meters). Weight is nearly half that of the JF-220: about 375 pounds (170 kilograms). The Jet-Lev Flyer Shark can remain on most lowering swim platforms, too, without issue.
Of course, the smaller dimensions of the new flying watercraft also mean a smaller fuel capacity. It’s reduced to about 8 gallons (30 liters), half of what the JF-220 has. However, the Jet-Lev Flyer Shark still has a powerful enough engine (110 hp) and water nozzle to get you flying stably over the water.
For €27,490 (about $37,158 at press time), the Jetlev-Flyer Shark comes with the boat unit, a nearly 33-foot-long (10-meter-long) hose, and a jetpack (pictured above). The jetpack features a five-point safety harness, adjustable arms and seat, and the throttles and related electronics for flight maneuvers. In addition, you still receive one-on-one instructions on how to operate the craft. The two- to three-day training covers takeoff, flying, turning, hovering, and landing. For experienced users, training also covers diving beneath the water’s surface.
The Jetlev-Flyer Shark is covered by a two-year warranty for private use. Various authorized dealers, such as Superyacht Tenders and Toys, sell the craft. Visit the Jet-Lev website to see the full list.
