Sea trials should start soon for My Sky, launched a few weeks ago at Heesen Yachts. The 167’7” (51.5-meter), full-displacement megayacht is the latest Heesen to be styled by Omega Architects.
The 600-ton (full load) My Sky has several of the features we’ve all come to expect of megayachts in this size range. For one, she has accommodations for 12. There’s further a main-deck, full-beam master suite and four staterooms for guests below decks. The beam aboard My Sky is 31’5” (9.6 meters), making that master suite plenty commodious. My Sky additionally has a sky lounge, a.k.a. upper-deck lounge. Sunpads, a hot tub, and more relaxation-inducing features await on the sundeck.
Two additional things about My Sky are also noteworthy, for being different. Most yachts of her size feature a customary formal saloon and formal separate dining area on the main deck. Instead, My Sky has one large saloon that serves multiple purposes. The rendering here shows the room in movie-lounge mode. The leather settees also serve as seating for meal time. The owner’s choice of interior designer is further unusual. He tapped Erick van Egeraat, a commercial and residential architect who has designed arenas, skyscrapers, and museums. Together, the owner and designer make My Sky a showcase of rich Makassar ebony wood and stone. To that latter point, there’s backlit white onyx set into black marble.
My Sky is meant for long-range cruising. Twin MTU engines should permit her a 3,200-nautical-mile range at 12 knots. Her deep draft of 10’7” (3.25 meters) means skinny-water areas are off limits. However, a number of marinas can certainly accommodate her, and anchoring out is of course always an option, too. That should be particularly nice for the owner when he arrives via helicopter. The helipad becomes an extra sunning space when wanted.
My Sky is set for delivery in November. Here’s a time-lapse video of the launch, from our Facebook page:
