She was known as project Kometa during her build. She’s now officially Galactica Super Nova. And the 230-footer (70-meter) is a few weeks from delivery from Heesen Yachts.
If the name sounds familiar, it’s because of Galactica Star, another Heesen from 2013. She led to the signing of this contract. Both also mark significant milestones for the Dutch builder and for yachting. At 213 feet (65 meters), Galactica Star was the largest fast-displacement yacht when delivered. Galactica Super Nova now holds that title, in addition to being the largest Heesen to date.
Galactica Super Nova, with styling by Espen Øino, was christened at the yard on Saturday. Here’s how Heesen announced the news on social media this weekend:

Some of the stand-out amenities aboard Galactica Super Nova include an infinity pool with a waterfall and glass bottom, plus hydro-massage jets. Another is visible in the photo above: a foredeck cinema. It will be used at night—that is, if the foredeck isn’t already serving as a helipad. Alternately, the area can also host dining and sunbathing. A total of 3,843 square feet (357 square meters) of usable deck space is aboard Galactica Super Nova.

That doesn’t include the full beach club, which becomes bigger and airier due to fold-down platforms. When the platforms are opened, it comprises nearly 1,572 square feet (146 square meters).
Inside, Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design has created a warm, relaxed atmosphere, as reflected by the saloon at left, for the owners’ party of 12. Throughout the megayacht, there’s abundant use of leather and stone. They flow from the four guest staterooms below to the VIP on the upper deck. Of particular note is the elevator and stairway winding around it. Steel, nickel, and chrome combine with wood and leather to make this central feature a showpiece.
Sea trials are expected to confirm a top end of nearly 30 knots for Galactica Super Nova. That speed comes from twin MTUs aided by another MTU, a booster jet. This third powerplant is a configuration change in comparison to the previous fast-displacement megayachts that Heesen has handed over.
Delivery is set for May. The owners plan a maiden voyage to Montenegro, then Med cruising throughout the summer. Look for Galactica Super Nova to make her boat-show debut at the Monaco Yacht Show, too.
