If there’s one thing we all love, it’s interactive gadgetry. We rely on our mobile devices for all sorts of information and entertainment. Naturally infotainment systems are aboard our yachts, too, like the YachtEye interactive platform. Created by Oculus Technologies, YachtEye has two new features that you can test in person at the upcoming Monaco Yacht Show.
If you’re not familiar with YachtEye, it allows you, your guests, and crew to call up yacht-specific infotainment. This includes the current position, tender or helicopter location, and even upcoming shore-based activities. Everything is touchscreen operated and intuitive.
One of the new YachtEye features is actually several features: a variety of touchscreen sizes. You can even request custom sizes. Regardless, the glass YachtEye panel, which shows everything in 3D, is flush-faced. That allows for a few installation options, like a tabletop version shown above. The new YachtEye touchscreen also meets an International Protection Rating of 56. This means it can prevent intrusion from high-pressure water jets from any direction. Furthermore, at your request, the touchscreen can display not just YachtEye data but also games, photos, videos, and Web browsers.
The other new feature for YachtEye is an interface compatible with third-party control systems. This means that controls from companies like Crestron can “talk” to YachtEye. If you have multiple control units aboard, different people in different rooms can access the YachtEye infotainment offerings simultaneously. They can even see what their friends and family in other rooms are accessing. The latter would be particularly handy for those of you who like to play video games against one another. Of course, Oculus Technologies can also set up two or more YachtEye systems, each with dedicated controllers. That way guests have their own, you have your own, and/or your crew has their own.
The new YachtEye features complement the just-released YachtEye Engine Room App. This app provides a 3D model of your yacht’s machinery space, including engines, gensets, and watermakers. It even includes 3D models of each system’s moving parts, and everything is displayed in real time. The Engine Room App is equally suitable for inquisitive kids and adults.
You can check out the new YachtEye features, as well as its other benefits, at several exhibitors’ displays at the Monaco Yacht Show. They include Imtech/VBH, Crestron, Alewijnse Marine Systems, Tijssen Elektro, Ideaworks, and Icon Connect. Check the Monaco Yacht Show exhibitors list for their locations.
