Three years after construction started, the first Mulder 98 Flybridge beat her projected top speed by two knots. The largest Flybridge model from her Dutch builder is also a few short months from spending her initial summer season in the Med.
The owner, a client from Russia, had to be pleased that the 22-knot top end exceeded the anticipated 20-knot max speed. Sea trials were conducted following the yacht’s debut at the HISWA Amsterdam boat show in September. Mulder says that the round-bilge hull form and twin 1,685-hp Caterpillars should also permit a 3,300-nautical-mile range at 10 knots.
The first Mulder 98 Flybridge is RINA classed, at her owner’s request. Eight in the owner’s party and four crewmembers are accommodated aboard the conservative-looking megayacht. Guido de Groot Design styled her, with Ginton Naval Architects handling naval architecture. She blends time-honored looks with some modern flair, but not so much that she will appear outdated in a few years. The 22’6” (6.9-meter) beam is right in line with that of similar-size megayachts. Decor treatments by Omega Architects include walnut wood, honey-tone onyx, leathers, and brushed nickel.
The video here shows off the Mulder 98 Flybridge both inside and outside. You’ll note things like a cozy saloon, a main-deck galley, and large oval ports in the below-decks master suite. Skylights fitted into the hardtop brighten the flying bridge. The latter is outfitted with seating areas, plus a grill and wetbar. The flying bridge can further hold the tender for transits. When the Mulder 98 Flybridge is out cruising and the tender is put to frequent use, it can instead stow on the swim platform.
