The fourth time is the charm for the owner of Lady G. This 95’2” (29.02-meter) is the newest, and largest, sailing yacht he’s commissioned. She’s also the third SW 94 from Southern Wind Shipyard.
Lady G is a semi-custom, performance-oriented sailing yacht. Even though she’s part of a series, her styling is a little different than the two previous SW 94s, those being Kiboko 2 (delivered in 2010) and Windfall (delivered in 2013). Lady G is sportier aft, with a lower cockpit floor. Reichel Pugh Yacht Design and Nauta Yacht Design, the duo behind the series, made the adjustments.
Inside, Lady G has differences as well. What’s been a TV area in the saloon aboard other SW 94s is an extra stateroom. It has two Pullmans. The master stateroom, one of three other cabins, further has two beds and extra stowage. It’s an interesting configuration for the 21’9” (6.66-meter) megayacht.
The RINA-classed Lady G does, however, feature the same construction techniques as Southern Wind Shipyard employed on the other SW 94s. She’s comprised of carbon fiber, Kevlar, and composite. Southern Spars provided the carbon mast, also like the others. And, Lady G has the same sail area as her predecessors, that being nearly 4,984 square feet (463 square meters). Draft is a fixed 14’8” (4.5 meters).
Southern Wind Shipyard expects to hand over Lady G in about two months’ time. The owner and his family have plans to cruise the Mediterranean this summer.
You’ll be able to see Lady G yourself at the Monaco Yacht Show in September.
