The Amels 272 is steadily taking shape in The Netherlands, following her hull arrival in January. Her superstructure is firmly in place, and delivery is on schedule for late 2016.
The Amels 272 is the “Grand Dame,” in the yard’s words, of its Limited Editions offerings. To put her size into perspective, she’s the first to put Amels’ new dry dock to use. Seen in the photos here, it measures 656 feet long (200 meters long). Interesting enough, the Amels 272 is also the shipyard’s largest megayacht to date. However, while she’ll remain the largest Limited Editions offering, she may not remain the biggest-ever Amels. The yard is in discussions with potential clients on fully custom craft of about 279 (85 meters) and longer.
Regardless, the Amels 272 packs quite a lot into her five decks, styled by Tim Heywood Designs. Gross tonnage is an impressive 2,827. Since interior design for each yacht is open to owners’ choice, her owners tapped Andrew Winch Designs. The build and design teams have not yet released renderings of the interior look. We do know, however, that one of the decks is devoted to the owners. The master suite (a master apartment, really) occupies 3,229 square feet (300 square meters).
Excellent alfresco areas await the owners and guests of the Amels 272 as well, a total exceeding 9,687 square feet (900 square meters). Pools are situated on both the aft main deck and forward sundeck. Further in keeping with current trends, there’s a beach club. It includes fold-down side platforms to make it more of an open-air space. A bar just inside will keep the libations flowing. Following a hard day of play aboard the watertoys toted by the Amels 272, the owners and guests can take advantage of a sauna and steam room inside the beach club, too. (The watertoys, by the way, can include two 36-foot, or 11-meter, boats.) Or, they can ask the crew to set up lounge chairs on the side platforms. If the owners and guests want to take a quick dip, the fixed swim platform reveals steps going down into the water. And, to accommodate quick departures from the Amels 272 to the airport or an aerial tour of her surrounding anchorage, touch-and-go helicopter operations take place from the foredeck.
Amels plans to share periodic progress on the Amels 272 via its Twitter, Facebook, and Google+ channels.
