T.Mariotti Shipyard, which builds megayachts under the Mariotti Yachts brand, has two refits in its facility. One is finishing up next week, with the other starting on her heels. Respectively, they are Andreas L, the well-known charter yacht, and Rahil, which the yard built nearly three years ago.
Established in 1928, T.Mariotti Shipyard has built a number of high-profile cruise ships and a small number of yachts. It used to conduct business as Admiral Mariotti Yachts, in partnership with Cantieri Navale Lavagna (CNL). Arguably, Admiral Mariotti was recognized more widely in Europe than in the United States. Regardless, Sea Force One, a 177-footer (54-meter) with an over-the-top, fantasy-fueled interior (picture black-velvet walls, and a disco for a skylounge), made headlines worldwide in 2008. When CNL went bankrupt in 2010, and Tecnomar acquired the Admiral brand within a few months, however, T.Mariotti established Mariotti Yachts. In 2012, Mariotti Yachts completed the first megayacht under its own name, the 177-foot Rahil.
Rahil’s refit is a brief one. It’s expected to last just 10 days, involving some engine-room work. As for Andreas L (above), the 197-footer (60-meter) has a bit more extensive task list. Steel work on her hull, mechanical alterations, and a repaint were requested. She arrived in November and is expected to be finished early next week.
While two refits may not seem much, they’re significant for T.Mariotti Shipyard. They’re the first ones the yard has tackled in the yachting sector since the rebranding in 2010.
T.Mariotti Shipyard is still courting new-build buyers, too. It has six concept projects ranging from 125 to 279 feet (38 to meters, respectively), representing expedition and traditional luxury yachts alike.
