With a new hull based on that of the Mangusta 165, the Mangusta 132 follows a proven successful pattern for the Overmarine Group. That is, preserve the high speeds that clients have always craved, while adding in the elements that they’re increasingly requesting.
In terms of the latter, buyers want better range and fuel consumption. While the Italian builder has not divulged fuel-burn figures for the Mangusta 132, it does say that she sees a best range, with one genset running, of 450 nautical miles. For a megayacht meant to top out (at half load) around 37 knots and cruise at 32, it’s a notable number. Power for this 130-footer (39.9-meter) comes from twin MTU 16V 4000 M93L diesels matched with KaMeWa waterjets.
These maxi-yacht buyers also want more alfresco space. The Mangusta 132 has a few features that previous customers—of Mangustas both larger and smaller—have requested. These features have now become “standard” for Overmarine Group, though the shipyard still allows customers to rearrange them as they wish. Aboard the Mangusta 132, you’ll find a hidden hot tub on the main aft deck. It’s topped by substantial sunpads when not in use. The bow sunning/seating/dining area is inviting, too, with two tables that can convert to a large one. And, lining the main deck are two huge panes of glass for more natural light, in conjunction with the four skylights that have become a Mangusta hallmark.
Then there are the tailored touches that the owner of this first Mangusta 132 wanted. Having owned a smaller Mangusta, he was well-versed in working with the shipyard’s in-house design team. He asked for a sliding glass partition between the helm and open, flowing saloon, along with glass doors to each side. Each can further be darkened for privacy. The backlit stone panels at the aft-deck entry are more than just eye-catching, they’re functional. They conceal stowage. From the main deck down to the four staterooms (five are standard), white leather lines overheads, oak lays underfoot, and walnut is used for paneling.
This photo gallery showcases these and other elements of the Mangusta 132—which you can see at the Monaco Yacht Show this week.
