Increasingly the yachting industry is catching on to a concept well practiced in other parts of the luxury sector: co-marketing with complementary luxury brands. The idea is to promote the on-water lifestyle. To see how it can work successfully, check out the video here of Silver Fast with a Mercedes-Benz S Class Cabriolet on her sunpad.
Silver Yachts, which delivered Silver Fast earlier this year, collaborated with Mercedes-Benz in August to film and produce the video. Shot in Monaco, it premiered this week at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The new S-Class Cabriolet, which goes on sale in the U.S. market next year, made its global debut there.
Why would Silver Yachts and Mercedez-Benz collaborate on this? Simple: The S-Class Cabriolet is aimed squarely at ultra-luxury consumers—the buyers regularly successfully targeted by Bentley and Rolls-Royce. Mercedez-Benz even refers to the seating of the car as “yacht-like.” (Auto-industry reporters agree, commenting that it’s among the nicest interiors the company has ever offered.)
The wind-in-your-hair feeling while seated in a luxury convertible complements the same sensation aboard Silver Fast. Recall that this 253-footer (77-meter) is capable of a reported top end of 27 knots. She’s currently the world’s fastest and largest all-aluminum yacht fitted with traditional propulsion. Silver Yachts says Silver Fast was cruising at 20 knots through many of the video’s scenes, too.
The sleek-looking S-Class Cabriolet was perched upon the helipad of the even more sleek-looking Silver Fast for the shoot. Take a look—and take a better look at Silver Fast at the Monaco Yacht Show, where she’s available by appointment.
