Four months after Henry Luken, a former co-owner of Christensen Shipyards, took full ownership of the builder, the facility now employs 105 craftspeople, and four yachts are in various stages of construction.
When Luken closed on the acquisition in July, following a court-appointed receiver approving the sale, Christensen Shipyards’ workforce totaled about 90 people. He told local media in Washington State at the time that he anticipated growing the number to approximately 140 to 150 gradually.
The next yacht anticipated for launch is Silver Lining, also known as Hull 36. In fact, launch should take place within the next few weeks, with delivery early next year. Black walnut wood adorns the relaxation areas, which include six staterooms. The saloon, dining area, and sky lounge are all said to be larger than usual for a 164-footer (50-meter). Silver Lining, whose styling will resemble that in the rendering above, is also for sale.
Early next year will see Chasseur delivered as well. Measuring 160 feet (48.8 meters approximately), she features six staterooms. Hull 42, a 164-footer (50-meter), is being worked on now as well. Christensen acquired the yacht from the buyers who had originally commissioned her. No details are available on the design, though delivery is anticipated for late 2017.
Finally, Hull 38, which is available for sale, recently started production. She’s a sistership to Silver Lining and offers a buyer the chance to tailor the interior and other spaces.
All four of the megayachts in construction are being built to ABS classification, too.
