A yacht’s name says a lot about her owners. It’s sometimes the same as that of a cherished loved one. It often also conveys the sensations and emotions of being onboard. The latter is particularly true about Serenity, delivered by Mondomarine this summer. Her spaces communicate tranquility and togetherness. And, Serenity does so in a sophisticated environment that easily navigates between formal and friendly.
The ultimate serenity for many a megayacht owner is found in the master suite. It’s quite a surprise aboard Serenity. Her 138’8” (43.33-meter) LOA belies this two-level arrangement. It’s a hideaway other owners can and should emulate, further occupying the 28’9” (8.8-meter) beam. Note the sliding door, too, to starboard. It leads out to a sunning and seating area on the foredeck.
The lower level of Serenity’s master suite is this spa-like oasis. The mosaic-inlaid wall behind the freestanding tub is visible from the sleeping area, an alluring effect. Because the bath/dressing area is open to the level above, the deep, raked ports up there serve as skylights for this area.
Guests aboard Serenity get four equally tranquil accommodations, thanks to the work of Fatema Almaidan of SFL Design. (Luca Vallebona of SFL Design and Mondomarine’s engineering department are responsible for Serenity’s sporty exterior and naval architecture, respectively.) The rich rosewood paneling combined with white leather overheads creates a peaceful scene. Each stateroom has a different color theme, too, enhanced by floral headboards. They’re living art, too, employing live plants.
Nearly as eye-catching is the cinema on the upper deck. When the curtains are drawn (not visible), the movie atmosphere is even more apparent, and attractive. Each is adorned with black and white images of famous Hollywood characters: the Godfather, Harry Potter, Lawrence of Arabia, and more. Mondomarine and the design team employed matte surfaces and sound-absorbing panels to let the around-the-room speakers be effective.
Capable of a reported 16½-knot cruise and 4,500-nautical-mile range at 12 knots under MTU power, Serenity can venture to a variety of respite-like shores. And, as these and the rest of her spaces reveal, there’s plenty to be done in a so-called small superyacht package to make her rival the biggest of the big toys.
