Buckle up: Palmer Johnson is now licensed to build fast yachts under the brand of fast-car maker Bugatti. They’re being called Ninette yachts, the same name Bugatti used when it offered racing boats in the 1930s.
Just one megayacht is part of the three-boat Niniette series: the PJ88 Niniette. She’s the largest of the models, in fact, at 88 feet LOA. The other two are the PJ42 Niniette and PJ63 Niniette, with each bearing an LOA equal to the numeral in the name. Build time should be one year, regardless of size.
The Niniette series is being built of carbon fiber and titanium. It uses the Palmer Johnson SuperSport hull. That hull, which was first employed aboard Khalilah, features sponsons and a monohull. Palmer Johnson says it reduces motion at anchor and improves stability underway as well. The builder expects each of the Niniette yachts to see a 38-knot top speed.
As for styling, each Niniette incorporates lines found on classic Bugatti cars. The company’s own design office applied looks from the Bugatti Type 57C Atalante and the Type 41 Royale Purist. The combination of two colors is also classic Bugatti. As seen above on the Niniette rendering, the lighter tone is titanium, while the dark blue is carbon fiber. What you can’t see is the wood on deck. Palmer Johnson and Bugatti are offering bubinga, maple, or morta oak, the latter of which has a natural blue hue.
Details on the general arrangement for the PJ88 Niniette haven’t been released. But, consider that the PJ63 will have accommodations for eight guests and one crew cabin. She’ll also have 678 square feet (63 square meters) of usable space on deck. Pricing for her starts at €3.25 million (about $3.5 million at press time), too. In addition, Bugatti will work with owners who want more tailored touches.
