While Delta Marine isn’t permitted to comment about her, Albatross has been making headlines this week. The 236-footer (72-meter) has been undergoing final sea trials and tests ahead of delivery.
Albatross was seen as far up as the U.S.-Canadian border earlier this week. She’s the second-largest Delta to date—second only to the 240-foot (70.15-meter) Laurel, delivered a decade ago.
Because the builder is under a confidentiality agreement, no information is known on the megayacht’s general arrangement, or full design team. Regardless, every yacht built at Delta does have contributions made by the yard’s own Delta Design Group.
The few details we do have are from publicly available data and photos. Albatross has a 43-foot (13-meter) beam and displaces an impressive 1,700 gross tons. Similar to Laurel and a few other builds, she has a steel hull paired with a fiberglass superstructure. Furthermore, Albatross has a side-launching tender garage with an overhead crane, plus a hefty davit on her sundeck for another boat or toy. Finally, she was previously known as Delta Marine 237044, her hull number.
A Washington State newspaper reports that Albatross will head to the Med following the conclusion of these final seas trials, for her owners’ first cruise aboard.
