For upwards of 50 years, the Dutch builder Contest Yachts has been constructing coastal and bluewater cruising sailing yachts. The family-run yard is entering the sailing-superyacht market with the Contest 84CS.
With hull number one set for a 2018 debut, the Contest 84CS is based on that of the Contest 67CS. This means she has an integrated bowsprit and optional furler to handle asymmetrics, among other things. She’s designed by judel/vrolijk, and will be all composite and Lloyds-classed.
The sailing superyacht is meant for owners who enjoy long-range cruising and/or regattas. For the former, the Contest 84C can accommodate 10 people. Because she’s being built on a semi-custom basis, you can have either a fore or aft master. Crew’s quarters for four can be fore or aft, too. Contest Yachts and the interior-design firm Wetzels Brown Partners are offering owners a blend of contemporary and classic decors. For both cruising and regattas, judel/vrolijk intends the twin-helmed Contest 84C to be nimble.
Set features sure to please include a guest cockpit forward of the steering stations. It will suite dining or just enjoying the view. The Contest 84C additionally comes with a toy garage plus a foredeck tender well. The garage is reserved for small toys, even dive gear and a compressor. The foredeck space is meant for a RIB.
