Summer probably can’t come soon enough for a handful of people who live stateside. They were on hand at Sanlorenzo’s Ameglia, Italy shipyard this month to watch the launch of Stae, their new pride and joy.
Stae is an all-fiberglass megayacht, part of the Sanlorenzo SL86 series. (Five models make up that series, with the SL78 being the smallest and SL118 the largest.) The SL86, like the rest of the series, is semi-custom. For example, owners can arrange the four staterooms below deck with either a full-beam master or both the master and VIP spanning the beam. (Beam is 20’8”, or 6.35 meters.) While Sanlorenzo hasn’t revealed the arrangement aboard Stae, we do know that the owner has a large family. Based on what previous buyers of the SL86 have done, both the saloon and flying bridge on Stae should accommodate a crowd handily.
Another option for the series is to have the galley above decks or below. Typically, Americans prefer the galley to be on the main deck. European and other international clients prefer it being in the three-person crew’s quarters.
No matter how Stae features rooms and furnishings, she should see a good turn of speed. Twin MTU engines permit a top speed around the 30-knot mark for the SL86 series. Sea trials should begin shortly.
On a related note, Sanlorenzo celebrated yet another launch that same day. It occurred at the shipyard’s Viareggio facility. Christened B&B, she’s an SL96 model—the 20th thus far, in fact. Her owner hails from Turkey.
In addition, in other Sanlorenzo news, the builder should shortly deliver Seven Sins. She’s the first 52 Steel, which hit the water in January. Two more megayachts in that series are under construction, too. Furthermore, four 460Exp models are in build, as is a 40 Alloy and 64 Steel.
