Yachts Miami Beach (formerly called the Yacht & Brokerage Show) opens today. One of the megayachts making her U.S. debut is the Sanlorenzo SL86.
Positioned right along Miami Beach’s Collins Avenue (below), the SL86 measures 87’8” (26.76 meters). As is shipyard tradition, the semi-custom megayacht comes with layouts that appeal to different nationalities. So, Americans will gravitate toward the one featuring a main-deck galley. Regardless of galley location, the SL86 has four staterooms, including the master, below decks. The master occupies the full beam (20’8”, or 6.35 meters) aft in both configurations. Subtle differences occur in the stairway positioning from the main deck and in the configuration of the VIP suite, located forward. Also as per Sanlorenzo tradition, the SL86 lets you choose woods, stones, and more.
Since the SL86 replaces Sanlorenzo’s longstanding SL82, the yard wanted not just bigger spaces, but new features. It therefore turned to Officina Italiana Design, a first-time collaboration. (The Italian studio is the same one responsible for modern Rivas.) Officina Italian Design kept the familiar SL series looks, accentuated with bigger ports and more natural light.
It also created a welcoming lounging/dining spot on the foredeck. While the Sanlorenzo SL86 is underway, at a reported cruise ranging from 28 to 32 knots (depending on power package), this area is perfect for sitting and taking in the sights. It can be a sunning spot at anchor, thanks to sunpads. And any time of day, it’s ideal for meals, given a table. A sunshade offers welcome respite from the sun on those occasions as well.
Watersports enthusiasts among you will appreciate the option of having a tender garage onboard. It can hold a boat up to 12’6” (3.85 meters). Alternately the lifting swim platform takes care of stowing the tender. That same platform can even be bigger than the norm upon request: five feet long vs. four (1.6 meters vs. 1.2).
Sanlorenzo says a total of 11 customers have ordered SL86 yachts since the model made her global debut last September in Cannes.
