Thanks to triple MTUs (coupled to triple KaMeWa waterjets), Flying Dagger should live up to her name. Just launched at Rossinavi yesterday, the custom megayacht has her sights set on a 27-knot top speed.
Started as hull number FR036, the 161-foot (49-meter) Flying Dagger also went by the code name Aston. Given the all-aluminum megayacht’s performance spirit, Rossinavi strove to keep sound levels relatively low while she’s running around on the ocean. Sea trials should further see the 2,600-hp MTUs permit a cruising speed of 23 knots.
This is the second launch of the year for Rossinavi. Utopia IV launched just last month. Interestingly, both that yacht and Flying Dagger share the same stylist, Team for Design – Enrico Gobbi. The teaser video (below) that Rossinavi released of Flying Dagger just hints at her exterior lines, but you can see a sharp bow. It’s nearly vertical, complemented by further sharp lines in her window areas and curves elsewhere in her superstructure.
Windows play a large role aboard, as you would expect. The owner and guests have wide, high panes of glass from which to see the world pass by. Further noteworthy, Flying Dagger has skylights to bring in more natural light.
The general arrangement follows current trends to some degree. For instance, the master suite sits forward on the main deck, and four guest staterooms all go below deck. Alfresco dining and sun lounging are a part of life aboard Flying Dagger, too. While she appears to have walk-around decks on her main level, too, they actually stop just aft of the master, rising up over it. This lets the master suite make the most of the 29-foot (8.85-meter) beam.
Flying Dagger still has a few weeks to go before delivery, and before she can put her 3,300-nautical-mile range to the test.
