Owners of large megayachts often like having tenders that match their motherships. These boats are essentially stylistic extensions. So, why can’t owners of smaller megayachts do the same? They can, if they have an Azimut. The Italian shipyard and fellow Italian specialist Tecnorib have an exclusive relationship whose first tender is now available. The name reflects that relationship: Pirelli J33 Azimut Special Edition.
Tecnorib is the company behind the Pirelli superyacht tenders, the famous performance RIBs branded by the equally famous automotive-industry company. These RIBs include the Pirelli 1900, which debuted last fall.
As for the Pirelli J33, you’ll find features typical of both marques. For example, Azimut provided input into style elements. Tubes and cushions naturally feature its logo. So does the steering station. Pirelli RIBs, out for more than a decade now, have long employed gelcoat and bold color combinations. Those, too, complement Azimut yachts and megayachts. In fact, as for specific colors, the Pirelli J33 comes in Burgundy Charm and Grey Elegance (pictured).
Interestingly, the Pirelli J33, measuring 10’8” (3.3 meters), is Tecnorib’s first tender with waterjet power. The engine is an 80-hp Textron. Fuel capacity is just shy of 12 gallons (45 liters).
Since RIBs suit multiple purposes, the Pirelli J33 does as well. Four passengers can enjoy the ride forward of the steering station on two cushions. There’s floor space for provisions, gear, or luggage. When you’re not using the RIB, it can sit on a swim platform or flying bridge. Beam is 5’5” (1.67 meters).
In addition, a handful of options are at your disposal. You can get a fold-down windscreen, for instance. The steering wheel is also removable. A telescopic paddle is available, too.
The new RIB is just the first in a series of Pirelli boats exclusively for Azimut owners. Stay tuned.
