With all the cool new watertoys coming aboard yachts, you’d think owners and guests would be having a blast. They are, with these new toys come new complications: How do you keep them secure? In other words, how do you find the right hardware to keep the toys tethered? Shipyard Supply Co aims to solve it—not just by selling the hardware, but by manufacturing custom solutions, too.
The company is a spin-off from Superyacht Tenders and Toys (SYTT), well-known among crew and owners. The team there has seen first-hand how rapidly the variety of watertoys has grown. As a result, it’s also seen how rapidly hardware demand has exceeded sources and supply. In fact, the company has had a deck-equipment division for a few years. That particular segment of its business has seen some of the company’s strongest growth overall. Considering SYTT opened its doors just seven years ago, that speaks volumes.
Shipyard Supply Co, operating independently, sources what you need. Furthermore, it will make what you need, if something suitable doesn’t already exist, or you want something special. Whether you need a tender whip, fender hooks, lifting kits for PWCs, or even rolling carts for moving the PWCs and other tenders around, Shipyard Supply Co provides it.
Luke Porter (second from left) heads the team. Joining him is Peter Emmons (far right), technical sales chief for SYTT who will do the same with Shipyard Supply Co. (Pictured with them are Josh Richardon, head of SYTT, plus Claire Richardson, co-founder of SYTT.) Having previously been a project manager of superyachts at Oyster Yachts, plus a crewmember, he brings knowledge to the table. “As a former bosun on a superyacht, I know how frustrating it can be spending time searching for quality products or finding local suppliers to work on custom projects,” he explains. “It makes perfect sense to have a one-stop shop for all deck equipment.”
The Shipyard Supply Co staff will be at the Monaco Yacht Show next month.
