This may be a first: The social media network Pinterest played a large role in bringing Mimi la Sardine to fruition.
The megayacht, which Cantiere delle Marche (CdM), lowered into the water on September 25, joins the yard’s Nauta Air line as a Nauta Air 110. The 110-footer (33.4 meters), with a beam of 25 feet (7.5 meters) is for a family who plans global travel. This, of course, is the same spirit as other CdM customers. However, they took a different approach when it came to collaborating on the interior. “Since the first meeting, the owner has created a Pinterest board where we started sharing ideas and receiving incredibly precise inputs,” explains Filippo Bevilacqua, from CdM’s interior-design department. If you’re not familiar with Pinterest, it’s a popular platform for posting and sharing interior decorating inspirations and more.
Since Mimi la Sardine is all about the family’s experiences, similar to how Nauta Yachts’ styling is experience-oriented, the ambience is relaxed and inviting. A combination of natural as well as weathered oak characterizes saloons and staterooms, for instance. The formal dining area in the upper-deck saloon even has a wood table, custom created by Riva 1920. (This company exclusively uses wood—sustainable woods, at that.) Creating the upper-deck dining area leaves the main deck primarily for lounging and together time. However, Mimi la Sardine does have her galley on the main deck, as well as the owner’s stateroom.
Four guest staterooms take care of guests below. Since Pullmans are in the mix, Mimi la Sardine will host 12 people during her explorations. And what explorations they’ll be. Displacing 280 tons, Mimi de la Sardine should see 5,500 nautical miles at 9 knots under Caterpillar power. Top speed should be 13½ knots.
As is customary for every CdM megayacht, Mimi la Sardine has a steel hull.
